M Room, Berlin

This hairdresser/ barber exclusively for men is one of the more affordable hairdressers in Berlin (I think) considering what you get. They have a great product range, also at very good prices. I bought some product immediately after feeling and seeing the difference in my hair after the wash and styling.

I definitely took notice how they cut and styled my hair differently to other hairdressers, I could actually do my hair the next day without having a small breakdown in front of my mirror because I can’t style like they can.

I would say their only downfall is that they do feel like a franchise, not very conversational (like most of Berlin) and you don’t make an appointment, so I am confused as to what happens when you go a second time, you wait for the same hair dresser or just move on to the next one? I guess they believe their hairdressers are all as good as the next.

check out their website and Facebook, and if you don’t cut there, try their products

M ROOM Berlin

Alter Roter Löwe Rein

The old red clean lion (rough translation)

Location Location Location! and what a great location, situated in one of the last remaining old villages in Berlin, known as Rixsdorf, its like you suddenly stepped through some kind of Narnia “Schrank” and into a different world.

This New bar, decorated in the old “Brauhaus” style (lol, see what i did there? #wordplay) added with a Cardigan of Hipsters, is a pretty cool place to take your friends that are visiting you from another country. beers are pretty averagely priced and they have a substantial range too.

Its a great place to chill with friends, even though when I went, my friend and I were harassed by bored kinds throwing us the bird and banging sticks against the window, but I’m pretty sure that was just bad timing and not a normal occurrence.

Be prepared to be blown away, first by the cool experience and decor, then by the price. After a cut, beard trim and some product be prepare to part with roughly €110, kinda leaves you weirdly fresh and deflated. Maybe its just my Ausländer attitude but I found this quite pricey for what it was. That said he gave me enough tips to skip the beard trim and do it at home.

An einem Sonntag im August

So heres a nice bar to go to when you have no idea what a hipster really is. Come one come all to see the epitome of what hipsters really are. Where the waiter wears a scarf and low-v and replies with a lazy shrug when you ask him where your beer is you ordered 10min earlier. If you’re into a very chilled, relaxed and slow night (no thanks to the service) its actually quite nice for an after work drink. Try not to go when there is a band playing if you’re there on a date. Otherwise chill to some great indie band. For the guys, turn left when entering the bathroom, could just be me, but it felt a bit ‘maze’ like unmarked and a bit disorientating.

Becks €3.20, Smoking area, people: local hipsters and Tourists
